Weird

The start is just as weird as it can get- it just comes in with a strange modded pad, and in comes my fucking TRADEMARK synth, goddamn it,

The song itself is relaxing and really good instruments choosed for that. but there isn't much more than that in it... except for a light bass synth.

I loved the piano you put in afterwards.

Keep it up, this is a great track!

The-next-MP responds:

thanks dude, glad you like it, the reason all the sounds are pretty basic is because it's one of the first peices i've done, towards the end of last year i switched from using a PC to a mac and for Christmas got Logic Pro 7 which is a fucking immense program, im just not that used to it yet, i've been using it at college as well, just takes a lot of getting used to and theres a lot to learn. also, it's not normally the kind of thing i would compose as i'm more of a rock based person, but i was feeling chilled out.

another thing is - there is more going on than you might think, not in terms of instrumentation, but in terms of form and musical characteristics and techniques.

the piece is almost quite minimalistic, which a lot of ambient music is, especially the original ambient music created by Brian Eno, he took reference from minimalist composers such as Steve Reich. the idea of it was that it was meant to be played quietly and with very little going on, which gives it the soothing "chill out" feeling. also, use of repetition gives this feeling aswell, where as too many changes stop you from relaxing, sometimes - Less is more.

the wave pad type synth sounds are also a soothing thing, they're generally quiet and build up slowly, if i used more sudden sounds, it wouldn't be as relaxing to hear.

another thing with this piece is that the bar lengths, if you listen closely, don't match up. i did this on purpose, and basically what happens is, they start in time and slowly go out of time, so some of the notes don't match up on the next cycle through the "melody" this keeps happening until they meet in the same place.
so like i said, there's more going on than you think, you just have to be aware of it to hear it. have another listen and see if u change ur mind.

thanks for your review dude

whoa... shit

It's kicking off at ONCE! Not good for the originality man, since it makes it a bit obvious that you used a midi.

And the drums are like... JUST as they are in the original version! You need a lot better drums than these too.

The break and then it starts over is good, though it's just... a bit... dumb...

This is kazeh

I liked the way you added a shitload of dance into it, as well as having a bit of... organs? It seems a bit midish when you have a lot of organs (they usually are in midis)

Very good drums in this, this is one of the few times I've heard it in them.

Could use some more nasteh instruments though...

Dreamy

I loved the start- you should have kept the style! The pad you used is really awesome. The strings didn't fti.

wait... now it's coming some beats in! and it's catchy too! And there are more pads! the song is getting better! Actually it is VERY good now. The piano made it even better.

this song keeps the mix good, could like to see some mroe intense beats at some parts though.

check your PMs soon

Karco responds:

Hmm. Maybe I'll remake the piece and keep the style somtime.

Yeah, I'm VERY proud of the percussion in this one. Same goes for the piano - especially towards the end of the song. Thanks again for stopping by to review... glad you like it so much! =D

addictive

The melody is catchy and keeps you listenining. I'm not so sure about the other parts though.

It was more like you mashed the piano with the deep tones, and it's way too loud too. The songs gets a lot of clipping becuase of this too.

The song itself isn't much since it is only a piano that's going. Keep trying though. Could have been a lot better.

Karco responds:

Huh, it sounded that bad? It sounded okay to me. =\ Yeah, I do agree I might have made it a bit too loud. That was my first attempt at anything classical/instrumental with FL, though, so I wasn't expecting it to be perfect, either. Glad that you like it to some degree or another. Thanks for the review. =)

I LOVE YOU!

This is one of the best tracks I've heard in the Audio Portal so far.

You used the Juicer, right? I love that synth. It makes the track so much more calm and warm. This gave me a warm feeling inside.

The rythmic synth you have in even gave it an industrial feeling, I loved the way you played it, sounds so hell of a lot better with it.

The cave effect is there, but I don't think it would be a crystal cave though.

The beat is good, doesn't need to be more diverse as it is just there to fill up space.

Great song man! I loved it SO MUCH. You have inspired me.

caffeinerush responds:

Haha, Big thanks man. I don't know if it sounds like I emulated Fruity Loop's juicer, but in fact I used Reason. Thanks for the review.

Kra

Indeed dark. Loved the meldy of it... reminds me of some of my older stuff.

Great beat, it's really a very well done song. The bass was good too.

There's nothing wrong in this.

preffertobedead responds:

Cool SBB im really pleased to have a review of such artist..u keep up ur good work too ;)..anyway this is an old song of mine...=)

Thanks for the review..seems like ppl doesn't review very much lately..

A nice loop

but isn't it totally off-tempo? It doesn't fit the drums at all.

The only ambience I got in it was the drums. Loved the guitar-like synth you put in after a while. Made a good expression of it.

The flute is awesome, it is what made the track really good.

You inspired me to make something with this.

A good ambient/Jazz track!

Good luck!

Madness?

I could see this being used in a madness movie! this music is great for this kind of movie!

The melody is... excellent... just some of the best melody I've ever heeard, lke I told in the last review some are simply just results of luck, and this melody is great! Gongrats!

I don't feel like making these huge reviews as much as I did... still I will try making a biggie for your sake.

The electronic effects in this one are great, they could have been used even more for a better effect of the track.

I don't think should have used the crazy helium voices, since they aren't sounding good, and they make the song a lot more amateurish.

In the start with the industrial part isn't bad, but it is not the best start for this song. It's just me.

Critical-Collision responds:

Thank You SBB

melodies aren't a result of luck, they're all under the control of the artist at all times.

the melodies we make, we are very careful about at all times, it could just be the case that the melodies aren't what you are familiar with, possibly bot to your taste, but it's just down to luck, whether the listener likes it or not.

Thank you SBB

...and here I am!

I happen to be ridicolously late with returning reviews, it's just the fact that I rarely am in the mood to review, but when I do I'm very good at it >:S

the beginning wasn't as good as I hoped. The synth that is there is more sick (literally) than it sounds good. You could use to have a totally different instead of it. It has just a bit too much disortion-like stuff...

The drums fit the theme, I like them, I don't know why ap didn't think so... they sound really good.

I have no idea what most instruments are so I will go and call this instrument a picking-like thing.
Sounds good, but it didn't need all that pitching in the end of every note.

The flute in the background could have been made sounding more like a real flute and set up a bit.

I liked the strings, it could have been set even higher up.

It's more like the bad instruments are louder and the good ones are too low... I don't know why.

The melody iis kinda anonymous... sounds like a normal desert melody... but it wasn't any spectacular melody of any kind, it's as good as it could be (since the really good melodies are usually found by luck...

Gee.

Critical-Collision responds:

Thank you SBB, late, well we were late in reviewing yours too.

Thank you for reviewing, we appreciate it
