ahh

Excellent loop. Great melodies and attitude and intensity curve throughout the loop. Loops perfectly.

camoshark responds:

Thanks alot, glad you enjoyed!

Cheers

huh?!

I don't recall you being this good?

I mean the ethnic percussion and the orchestral percussion snaps nicely and sounds excellent. So does most of the other percussion except maybe the hard impacts don't really sound all that hard hitting. And the transition to the sitar part and the buildup from there is just excellent! You of all people, who talks about transitions all the time, should be proud of yourself :D.

And you really have a thick yet clear mix, with some nice touches here and there like the clarinet stuff and something that sounds like a deep choir sound or something idk.

And the main melody is just something I sooo wish I had come up with myself. It especially shines in the last part there, with the badass string ensemble.

And it ends with the best bang ever! man that was great! I went and downloaded it which isn't something I do often. Awesome work

Step responds:

OMG OMG OMG FAV FROM SBB

*faints*

:D

"I don't recall you being this good?"

I'm not. I stole this from a film score :3.

"I mean the ethnic percussion and the orchestral percussion snaps nicely and sounds excellent."

I'll have to thank Ethnoworld for that. Some of its melodic instruments are a bit bland/dry but the percussion is awesome.

You're completely right. I didn't feel like EQing them properly and I'm still not satisfied with their volume level.

Haha :D. Initially I had made it so that at 0:56 after the string note the sitar part immediately starts playing, but the next day I decided it was a terrible idea so I decided to go for a 'beat around the bush until the song finally goes to the next part' plan. Glad it succeeded :3.

Thanks, although the only time I used a choir was for the fading effect thing you can first hear at 0:09-ish. The deep sound might be the double bass, I dunno.

That melody is just pure luck. Like I said in the author's comments, it evolved from a mistake I made while playing the D harmonic minor scale on the piano.

"And it ends with the best bang ever! man that was great!"

Lol, the bang at the end took me 20 seconds max :P. I just chose a few random big hits from Stormdrum, and threw in a cello and french horn staccato note.

Thanks a lot man, I REALLY appreciate the big review as usual, all the good feedback is inspiring me to work a bit more on this. But yeah, thanks again!

YES.

You know what was awesome? The first 40 seconds. When the higher notes were introduced, well that kinda disrupted the mood imo. Especially the note at 2:05. I think you should remove that. But like from 0:30 to 0:40. I kinda felt proud of you there. I think you should expand on that kinda feel, with the deep pad stuff and the ambience. Very debusy-like, and I love that. The rest of the intro is good too but I mean you really nailed it there. There's that certain almost brass-like sound that I've grown to love which is why I like this particular piece a lot

After like 4 or 5 minutes the piece pretty much fell apart and at 6 minutes you just started doing that pad stuff which I don't like too much. BUT I GET IT, the guy's dying or something so it does kinda fit.

The reverb effect is nice, doesn't really sound realistic or add depth but it adds a pleasant washing sound. Did you record ambience from the airport or did I read that wrong. If it's the former you certainly get points for originality.

but yeah you're definitively making progress, even if you insist on only ever making slow long drone songs ;)

FatKidWitAJetPak responds:

This is kind of a half drone half not haha. I will always be making ambience, and sooner or later move on to some dubstep *Because i love dubstep and its easy to make apparently*.

Here is a list of all the things I recorded:

Breathing
Stuff inside of the airplane I was on
Popping my finger out of a bottle
Typing on my keyboard
Talking to a government official about the difference between playing the bass and making electronic music

The last one is my favorite, lol. Since I only make all this stuff in Garageband, I am a bit limited but I am learning SOOO much right now. I am figuring out how to piece everything together. Once I get an Akai keyboard I can truly achieve some songs. :)

Thanks for teh review SBB.

This loop

It's nice.

Step responds:

Cool.

haha

how sbb-esque indeed. Amusingly so actually. Were you influenced by me or something? :P

I really like the feeling of the song, but there isn't really a lot more to it. I know it's just an experiment but it sounds like it has a lot of potential still.

Decibel responds:

Actually yeah, I was extremely influenced by you, I hear Absent-minded all the time, so I guess I drank in the song juice :P

Potential? Really? Aww, shucks =)

Thanks for stopping by =)

*EDIT*
Lol Supersteph54 is complaining because you gave me a 10 on a song which i worked on for around an hour and gave him a 9 on a song he worked on for months.

nice

Love the chillout grooves. NIce and laidback. Very nice listen :D

Greeksta-69 responds:

Thanks buddy!

haha

Really cool. It walks the thin line between genius programming and random sounds put together. I'm enjoying them sub bassy elements, and everything generally sounds very crisp.

jkap1 responds:

Thanks for the encouragement man.

this is awesome

I love it so much! It's been a long while since I've downloaded something from Newgrounds but this is really something I'll enjoy listening to in the future. Please tell me if you have more songs like these?

djInTheDark responds:

Yes I have many more!... but they kind of don't exists yet. :[ I would have to say its the first of its kind that I've written. Hopefully I will write something equally good if not better than this one in the future, but so far not - nothing very similar to this particular song. Who knows. Thanks for the review!

this is lol

This mix sounds really, really good. Like, good good. The piano and that one pad in the middle are objectively goofy. But the rest of it is kickin'

Nav responds:

Thanks SBB! :)

sweet

Love all the random bits of percussion and bips and bops. The organ sound is a great foundation for this tune. The mix is really nice too, the kick is punchy, the percussion is pretty detailed and I can't get enough of that fat slap bass.

Only thing is the bell melody is too random, I don't really think it fits in the tune.

jkap1 responds:

Really appreciate the feedback.

welcome to bluegrounds :))
