oh my god
This is fucking great
The bass sound is just brilliant, the drum pattern is cool and the compression is pretty ridiculous which sounds nice in this tune.

:) Thx for the encouragement!
Cool
First thing that hits me is it's got a very "confident" attitude if you can say that about a song. A strong, consistent theme with interesting variations. I really like the melody during the part from 0:50 to 1:03. The percussion fill right after that is cool too. Nice timing. The strongest part of this song is definitively the melodic content.
The mix and overall sound is where things could well be improved. The mix is a bit dry and not very tight. The drum kit sounds pretty bland in my opinion. And as far as I could hear, the piano sound isn't all that interesting, either (it might actually be a very realistic, killer piano sound but in that case I couldn't hear it:). That synth in the intro is a bit, erm... fruity, but the detuned lead sound is great! I'd love to hear some real shredding on that synth! Like a synth solo or something :)
But anyway, GOOD LUCK IN THE FIGHT SIR, THERE WILL BE BLOOD
Damn, i take too long to respond to reviews.
Anyway, you are right. I gotta start learning producing better.
Thanks for the review. Blood will be shed indeed.
;)
so anyway
I can't really bother actively listening to minimalistic ambient for 8 minutes, so I just let it play in the background while working on a paper... and it works for that but the song doesnt really give me anything... there is no variation for 8 minutes except perhaps some so once again all I can think of is... pad
An actual problem with the song is how there is absolutely no bass there, there's like nothing below 200 hz... and there's also such a heavy high mid range, so it ends up sounding shrill.
there's nothing terribly wrong with it but I'm just not intrigued enough to give it a higher score, and as long as you keep doing these it's going to stay that way :)
Did you not listen with headphones? It is actually constantly changing. I played a large array of chords. I wanted the bass to be a light touch, as Kingbastard described so that you hear only a low vibration. A high bass would distract in this song, since everything is pretty quiet. I understand that ambient drone isn't your thing though, and you demand more variety which is just fine. Sorry you couldn't get much from the song or understand the meaning behind it. Also, I wouldn't call this "minimalistic". The pads were difficult to create along with their effects, the background elements, the layers, the chords, and the harmony. It might seem like a simple song, but creating it is the part that requires a certain emotional passion with a certain knowledge on creating pads. Eh, you have never really liked my music that much anyway so it isnt that much of a surprise that you didn't like it heh.
ack mein gott
My head hurts a bit. But it sounds so nice. Good song. Just one thing really: around 0:25 things got a bit out of sync.
yeah I noticed that too. Shoot gotta record the acoustic guitar.
thanks for the review :)
Well
This is like the polar opposite of what your competitor submitted. It'll be exciting to see how this match will turn out, because the two songs are really not comparable. This song... it's very pleasant (some of the cymbals were perhaps a bit intrusive) and relaxing, but the song feels like forever and I'm struggling to stay awake.
Who said it was meant to keep you awake? :P
I might tone down the cymbals before the deadline.
Thanks for reviewing it, SBB. Great to get a review from you.
great!
You've really got a nice sound. The bright plucky synths cut right through the mix, and everything else stays in the background, nothing is overpowering or anything. About halfway through, the drums sound SO bright and nice, it's really lovely to listen to. Excellent production, great composition, good sounds, I really have nothing to complain about! Good luck with the contest!
Wow. Thanks man! Before, i had no hope. Now i have a klondike bar. yay
haha man!
How could this possibly be made by anyone else than you? :D
Simple pads - check, really weird drums with delay - check, minor scale clean guitar stuff - check, synth lead based on a simple wave form - check, really deep sub bass - check, tons of delay everywhere - check, everything is in minor scale and it sounds dark but strangely optimistic - check!
A bit long perhaps, and the drums kinda throw me off, other than that it's a very sweet song.
thank you sbb, but uh-oh, I think I'm becoming redundant...
cool one
One of those nice repetitive but deep sounding house songs. The snare/clap and cymbal kinda disturbs that nice sound though... they sound a bit too plain vanilla in this context I think. The intro part could've been much shorter- you don't get to hear the beefy parts before you're like halfway into the song. THOSE ARE MY CRITICISMS
The biting bright bass was a really nice surprise. Really enjoying the piano/pad thing in the intro too. And the shuffle-rhythm is a nice touch too. Kick is nice and tight in the latter part of the song. Good work man!
Thanks alot for the critisicm and comments ^^. My internet is a bit complicated as I am moving and using a mobile broadband which is very slow, so I couldn't get to you earlier. Thanks again :)
cool
I must say I'm a bit tired of hearing that half-time drum thing in so many songs. I mean it sounds cool but I feel the song could use some more energetic drums. My opinion anyway.
The bass synthhas a really nice sound, bright but well rounded.
Hm, didn't come up with much to say about this one. But nice work! And good luck with the fight
You hear that a lot in dubstep. You probably don't hear it much in more mainstream songs. And if I made it energetic, I'd be defeating the purpose of the song =/
Thanks for the review :)
