I love this, great chords

AshleyAlyse responds:

Thank you, Buoy! I am quite happy you like it! :)

I like how your approach is almost adorably similar to your classical songs... like in 0:38 and 1:13

also this is not good. The mix is bad and the sounds are cheesy and don't fit together and a lot of notes are weird it doesn't flow well at all. But I think you know that, lol

Step responds:

NO WAY MAN THIS IS MY BST SBMISSION EVERRR.

Can't hear the similarity at 0:38 since that's pretty much the same thing that happens in the original but yeah I can hear the similarity at the end haha.

Yeah this isn't very good. I haaaate this genre, and it's pretty much impossible to compose good music in a genre you hate.

Thanks for the review :3.

Yes the sound is a mess, get a new guy :P But the playing is lovely, and it makes the whole thing sound like a more solid piece than the original. Sounds like a hell of a fun time to play too. Really enjoyed the last minute of it

camoshark responds:

Thanks, man, glad you enjoyed!

The sound guy is definitely checked off of our list of competent individuals, so highly unlikely we'll ever ask for his assistance.

As for the playing, all the guys came to tell me that it WAS, indeed, a hella lotta fun to play, so right you are!

In any case, thanks again for the quick response, and be sure there's more from where this came from!

I'm starting to dabble into the orchestral realm, this is a lot like the kind of stuff I want to start doing... great flow, great harmonies, great everything... though I would have appreciated if you could tone down the percussion a bit during this very emotional moment ;_;

bassfiddlejones responds:

Sorry to ruin the moment! haha, I'm glad you like this piece. I put a lot of myself into it. Thanks for all the reviews!

This is the best thing I've heard on Newgrounds in weeks or even months, I had no idea you were this good, WOW. Absolutely huge orchestral arrangements, tight and fat guitar work, beastass drums, incredible atmosphere. Damn son.

Also I love the melodic work at 2:20 to 2:40, I have a very similar idea in some song and we came up with very similar ideas indepentently.

bassfiddlejones responds:

Wow man, that's a fantastic compliment! I'm flattered. And it took forever to get that melodic part down with the bass and guitar. It mostly flowed from the chord structure we had in place already, which gives rise to that little bit of chromaticism you hear. Thanks a ton for the feedback. : )

yay for the hang drums. I know exactly what you're referring to with the author comments but I don't know if I would associate this kind of song with that. It's a very pretty piece of music still, and I like how you keep building it, the whole song is this very slow and smooth buildup that just kinda dissolves in the end (at least that was what I was expecting until the rather abrupt ending). Still pretty featureless, I appreciate the minimalism but it feels more like a template or a skeleton for a more involved song.

bassfiddlejones responds:

Yes, I love the hang drums, haha. I envision this piece as a sort of backdrop to rediscovery, if that makes any sense. It's meant to accompany more than to imitate or be the focus, thus the minimalist approach. I left it mostly "bare bones" for that reason. Thank you for the review!

haha wow! I love it! Awesome to hear such an utterly soundtrack-like piece. This is literally making me uncomfortable in suspense, especially during the silent parts with just the droning bells :o

bassfiddlejones responds:

This is pretty different from my normal stuff - I'm happy that it had the effect it did! There's actually no harmonic structure to this at all, which is what made it very different for me. I had to make it feel tense without chordal structure or melody, save the little bit of background music you get during the percussive part in the second half.

I love this man. You nailed the attitude of this kinda jazz. Sophisticated as shit yo

sorohanro responds:

Thanks :)
I love the choice of words in your review :)))

I'm loving your new stuff, this is really my cup of tea. Excellent subtle bassline. Great sounds. Lovely melodies and just great atmosphere overall. I would have loved it if the bitcrushed synth and reverb in general were a bit further back in the mix so it's easier to get immersed in the smooth atmosphere and the lovely liquid dnb groove.

is the album out? I'd love to have it

Sequenced responds:

Yeah it's on my bandcamp.

I keep listening to this. This is so good man. well, men. manses.

welcome to bluegrounds :))
