ok---

so since iTunes told me I have listened to the ep version of this song 43 times, I thought I should review it-

I can't entirely hear which speech/whatever you sampled here, but it does fit very well to the time signature and percussion/rhytm synths going on as well as it. The song also releases very well from the speech into the entirely musical part. Great work on the build of the song, masterful work!

The disortion of the drums, which you're saying you removed (I did hardly catch any difference... maybe because I'm not listening to both at the same time) does a great mix into the song really, very much like the sound you get when you add a RV-7 to something

Loved the percussion later in the sound, you're actually pretty damn great at effecting it.

the glitched pad sounds perfect, adds a lost feeling to the song also its annoyng remove it no dont

Great work on this one, make more tracks like this! Then I could put more songs in my itunez

SineRider responds:

I don't think I've even listened to this song 43 times.

The differences were I snipped off a part at then end I didn't like and did some remastering.

Thankies ^_^

This tune

It's weird

and extremely little musical or enjoyable, actually I believe this is a pure listen-to-find-out-wtf-it-is-ish track than an actual listening track, filled with random sounds and super-fast repeated noise in it. Kinda acid-ish really.

It's weird

LJCoffee responds:

Yeah, not everyones' cup of tea I suppose. It's just some glitchy psuedo-acidy IDM stuff. Thanks for listening-to-find-out-wtf-it-was though!

yup

this track is beautiful, loved the beginning the most. The strings have a great build up but the song sounds empty with just them in there. Could see the piano there much more, since it's so damn great.

A very good peaceful track, S-F, gotta have some applause for this track.

Setu-Firestorm responds:

There are reasons for its emptiness, and I'm not just saying that to compensate for anything.

This was for a film project, and as such film music tends to not be as full as your everyday orchestral music; film scores usually tend to be more simple, especially in a drama genre setting. The only time I've seen more full orchestrations in movies is usually in adventure films.

Thanks for the review.

okay I'lll let you know

haha yours are tons better than mine... I didn't make it good enough i think... but you definatively did, and yours I believe will do great in the contest, loved the note sequences in the song, loved the whole song really, great work!

Winterwind-NS responds:

thanks man
urs isnt nearly as bad as u make it sound lol

Yes.

Very true indeed :D

yes

Ok it's supposed to be repetetive, but not boring, but it is REALLY repetetive and therefore it is quite boring as nothign really happens in the track after the first half minute, it's just a repeat of the stuff earlier in the track.

I see you say you used an mp3 file to make that synth. It's working out well, but the times you play it on various notes the same time it sounds horrible and off-note.

The percussion works out well, few samples going on in them, which is good since it makes the attention go to other and more important parts of the song.

vox pad sounds great but it sounds like just single notes and not chords. Also it's quite loud compared to the rest of the layers.

Space rhodes made the track great in the latter half, a bit repetetive here too.

There's such a lot of things I could see added to this, instead of just the same all the time.

But it is a great basic song though!

loopsalottoo

Karco responds:

Hmm. I can see what you mean, maybe developing it faster would have been a good idea. If I feel like it I'll make a second version...

Well, I didn't use an MP3 file to make that pad... that MP3 file IS the pad! :D I thought it worked fine... it never played more than one note at once.

Yep, that synth (they're called rhodes?) that plays the melody is a nice one... it's actually from a VST that's supposed to be for pads! It's called Cygnus, and I think you'd love it... but Reason can't use VSTs, can it? >:(

Hopefully the next section, Stratosphere, will be much better diversity-wise... it's the fastest of all five parts. :D Nothing else to add... so thanks for the review, glad you like it.

i dont understand you

how do you make all these touching and beautiful songs

Father-of-Death responds:

thanks dawg!

lol wtf dude :o

You sure this isn't the same as After The Nova? I could hardly spot any differences- and the waveform isn't really different either!

oh-ok, there is a "oh" sound going now. and a sound from the original which is a bit more outdone. Some quicksilver. Some few changes in placement.

And that's pretty much all I saw. It all appeared later in the song, but seriously dude, there wasn't a lot of changes or extensions in it. The original is hell of an ambient experience, and this is just like adding some more topping to a cake that is perfect in form already. It doesn't change it much.

And I believe I reviewed the original so I could simply copy and paste the review from it into here, but I'm not really a fan of double-information.

You made it better. A little bit.

I like.

Karco responds:

Actually, I more than doubled the length... but, definitely true - in new elements, I didn't do so well here. =\ I thought it might have dragged on.

It's an extended version, not a remake. I didn't change any of the synths, etc. so up to the ending of the first version it was, indeed, identical. =\

Most of the reason I uploaded it was because it's been so long and I felt like it... ahh well.

Not much else to add... thanks for the review. And... apparently, you still like it, so glad you do. :)

hello

:) you my good sir know how to make music- the only thing I was a bit dissapointed about was the percussion, which was like thump phaa all the time, though the shaking things sound great, but it doesn't really sound like percussion, eh?

The lead sounds good, but it's not very special. I've seen sharper and better leads, but I like this. The pad-ish thing that follows the lead in a later part of the song really DOES make it special though.

and the end was just funny, (slowing down and stopping that way) I literally laffed of it.

K. Neat instrumental here, but there's a lot more I could see in this.

Karco responds:

Well, it sounded pretty much like percussion to me - industrial percussion, though. It sounded pretty good to me... though it definitely is very different from what I normally use. :P

Actually, there's no pad-ish thing that follows the lead. It's all one thing. It's just that in the beginning I have it play a short note and let it reeverb. Then I held the notes later on, turning it into a sort of pad. Aah, I love Vanguard. =D

Actually, the ending was that way because I couldn't think of anything better. I don't see the humor in it but if you liked it that way, ok - I'm not complaining. :P Glad you do, thanks for reviewing. :)

y hellu thar

starts out kinda weird, it's a very atmospheric pad though it doesn't give much atmosphere to the track at all.

I dunno, the melody is strange, not very melodic, but after a while it sounds great when it's combined with the percussion and the droplet like pad.

Builds up very slowly, there aren't many different synths going on at the same time, and these you had sound great together.

But I think it missed something in the start, which could've been made different from the other parts of the song

It has great flow, and it's slow enough for being something to fall in sleep with. Great ambients again SR

SineRider responds:

It was a bit more chord based song, as opposed to a complex melody, ya know.

I really liked how I approached the percussion in this song. Although I was not going to include any when I first worked on this a couple months ago.

Thanks for the criticism, I'm happy to get any. As it can only make me a better artist.

welcome to bluegrounds :))
