bah

Do you record, or do you just never quantize? Cause a lot of your stuff has timing issues. Makes it sound clumsy and much more amateurish. :P You got nice instruments in the song, that's for sure though. Add some fitting, subtle effects to 'em, and you'll have it sound much better.

AND QUANTIZE YOUR STUFF DAMNIT :)

ConradB responds:

I don't even know what a quantize is

hah

Well there's some interesting songs here- I'm saying songs because it seems more like two or three songs slapped together than one integrated song. A bit happy rpg orchestral, then moves onto something more dramatic and emotional, then all of sudden there are guitars and stuff going on. you get what I mean? Probably not, but I'm complaining anyway :D

Well done, this stuff, something I could see done much better is the drum work, it's quite offbeat and with illogical patterns. Bagh

ConradB responds:

I'm not a drummer so I kind of just wing it when making them, however I think they're quite onbeat for the most part. It's just the ending I was having trouble with

ALSO THE REASON THERE'S THREE SONGS IS BECAUSE IT'S SUPPOSED TO REPRESENT THE THREE STATES OF CLOCKTOPIA "HAPPYNESS" "DISASTER" AND "FREEDOM" OK >w<

yeah, off tempo

So, did you make it offbeat on purpose? Judging by the title and description of the song, it really looks like a joke. The tune itself is decent though. It's way close to the original with not much original stuff added. I suggest you try with some catchier percussion than that congabeat you got in the track.

nothin' much to say

A great jazzy track again

A bit too fast for what I feel this kind of tune should be. Nothin much, but it's just getting a little -too- happy with that fast jazz drumbeat. Alright, in my opinion. You might've had other intentions that what I feel it should have. ;P

Great keyboards work, lots of catchy melody work there. This really has some potential, I could easily see it grow into a much longer piece with some variation.

Nice

Didn't like it as much as I did with the others, probably because you're not THAT promising in this genre- many instruments and synths just sound awkward and over-effected, some are out of their place etc.

Great sounding drums, really adds a hard feeling over the thing. Might want to boost up the volume of those snare rolls though. And compress the kick more for a harder feeling to the entire track, since it's hardly audible with all the other stuffs goin'.

Orchestra added a nice touch to this track, but you might just have pushed it out of the genre by letting the piece rely so much on the orchestral and synth work. But don't worry, it only makes you more original :D

'tis nice anyway.

Masterful

Very emotional piece, kind of reminds me of some old 2-3 hour long "cartoons" (strictly not cartoons, more like animated artwork, damn great stuff) I watched when I was a kid. It would indeed fit very good as the score for a movie, I could really see someone make a movie for this and not opposite :D

Now I'm not going to go as much in detail like someone *coughsimonfcough* did, I'll just give another "fantastic" to your song, I really loved the two orchestral pieces I've heard from you so far.

Vewy nice

Very jazzy indeed. It'd really fit for some comical-royal thing, I don't know. Some of the instruments sound all midi, but that's pretty much the only complain- 'cept for that it doesn't really fill up the sound spectrum much. Maybe if you boosted the bass a bit, it would do more justice.

Yeah, a great happy jazz loop.

NickPerrin responds:

Yeah it's tough to find good-sounding saxophones, even in the BEST libraries. They always seem to end up sounding MIDI, no company has done a really solid saxophone yet!

Wonderful

Starts out with some guitar/claw stuff, then slowly grows in intensity- and then, a slow but intense BAM! And I'm all "whoa, how'd he do that? :O:O, that's talent". It evolves into a fantastic landscape of sound, with amazing melodies and arrangements of that orchestra, it's really something unique and wonderful.

Stunning, amazing, it has a much more professional sound than I'd expect would come to newgrounds. Really, I just feel like praising it more and more :D

Fav'd, 10'd, 5'd.

Mighty uplifting

That rising little bass doodle that's going straight through the entire song sure as hell makes the tune uplifting. You did indeed create that kind of "first time in grasslands" or whatever feel very well. My only complaint on the song is how the drum kit sounds horrible. Patterns are basic and good sounding, but the track could really need some better drum sounds.

My suggestions are to get rid of or replace that tambourine with something, or just lower its volume, since it stands more out than it should. Then get up the toms volume, find a thicker, less punchy kick, and replace the clap with an acoustic snare. At least that's how I could figure it would sound better

Pretty much everything else sounds great, I really love the mood that pizz and guitar adds to it. Well done!

kelwynshade responds:

I appreciate the feedback. I do agree that the drumkit I used definatly isn't one of the best I have, however I figured it sounded good compared to titles like Secret of Mana and such.

I also agree that the tambourine is a bit too loud as well.

Thanks for checkin it out!

YES

I love it. Which is scarce with your tunes, cause they usually have a more generic techno sound to 'em. Got more stuff like this? This is probably the only song I've downloaded all weeks, so it's pretty obvious that I love it.

The drums make it pretty damn great, but some just a bit more realistic drums, especially on the rather weak snare(s) (while still not sounding totally acoustic) would probably make some fatter, more intense drums. I love the beat and patterns tho, completely filled up with awesome.

well gud

ZeRo-BaSs responds:

Thanks SBB :D

welcome to bluegrounds :))
