well k

Felt that marching rhytm was kinda weird, sort of out of sync, i dunno? But it doesn't sound prefectly right. Some interesting synths and drones here

ugh

when that clav thing came in I sorta shaked my head- that melody is... horrible :(

well I thought it was a bit busy and overwhelming for an ambient song- and it's really not a dnb song either- but it was an interesting piece of music I'll tell ya that

DoobyTimePiece responds:

Why Thank yah sir! its was some experimental cadences i was working on.

i thought they fit my style.

TWISTDT

LOL HE STRETCHED AND TWISTED MY FATE AROUND A TREE LIKE FIVE TIMES

Anywayse, yayse melodicse metalse

So how many guitars are there there- sounds like three, or you did some polyphonic tabs, which I'd love to know how to do :P They sound like they were played by allmighty hands of awesome

Nice drumse and all too

'tis a very good great awesome perfect songse

DarKsidE555 responds:

OMG, LIKE I TEH TOLD YOUZ!

On certain parts, four guitars play in total. I had a good timing finding the right EQ settings and shit, so that the freq. won't clash together. I hope it worked out. ;P

Thankse forse checkingse outse! fag! lul. >:(

My honest response to this work of art

MUST TOUCH REPRODUCTIVE ORGANS

0con responds:

I TEH WARND JOO!!1!!1!

CANT YOO REED!?!?!?

yay

Bit crappish mastering, some distortion thrown all over the place, that stuff... 'cept for that it's all pretty good- you got great melodies (though very basic synths to use the melodies with, maybe you should like, spice things up a little with filters, effects, such thing, make it sound more original ya know). Pretty good stuff

WritersBlock responds:

Yeah, I'm getting better with the melodies and stuff, but, mastering... I don't have a clue about. I didn't really add effects to this, although I've been fiddling around with them here and there, trial and error (that's how I do almost all my stuff =P).
Thanks for the review.

Learn to master a song in a half decent way

Way too much clipping, I suggest either you take the volume down by tons, you put on a compressor, or you do both. Organ sounds rather presetish, and it doesn't really help that the melody sounds horribly midi-ish. Get some reverb on that. Then you get some other stuff than just the cheesy church organ, k? :)

Sorry if my review looks way too harsh.

yay

So I was listening to your drums and trancybassysynth for a while, thinking "that's it?" since it went on for so long- but theN WTF HERE COMES A HUGE FRIGGIN HOOVER ANd I'm like whoa n shit. Then comes a piano to say "calm down, calm down" and I'm still hyped on mushrooms n crackkkk, seeing things

That could be used in an analogy with the title too- you just got a letter, and you're opening it, reading some random stuff and then WHOA WHAT THE HELL I WON 999 MILLIONS OF DOLLERZ- but then you see that you can win even more, so don't go totally crazy just now

Nothing to comment on the drums, except that those varying pitch hats sound rather awkward. Kick and snare and clap and all that joy is well done.

Your bassynth seems a little bit silent- but ugh, I know you can't change that- in any way- now :(
It's a good synth nevertheless

That hoover is impressing, when it boosts in like "whoa", I don't think any other kind of introduction to it would sound better- a good thing with the fading you did here is that it at first sounds dramatic, but when it's in the next part it just sounds ravy and trancy and dance-to-me-all-night-long-ish. Well donez

cool piano

cool song

Karco responds:

Woah... in response to your little story thing... well, I'm speechless. o_O

That's actually no Hoover, it's a really, really reverbed arped sawtooth. I have no idea where you got the Hoover idea from. Don't those have all this weird pitch changing stuff, just by holding one note?

Hmm, that's not at all what I meant by the title. But that makes sense too, I suppose...

Huh, I liked the hihats. :\ Oh well. There's no snare, by the way. :P

That was one of the things I actually HAD changed before the .flp corrupted. :'( The bass was a lot more audible, though not overpowering, and I had made the intro a bit more progressive... augh, it was going to be such a great song. >:(

Again, NOT A HOOVER. ;D

Glad you liked it, thanks for stopping by to review. :)

creep

I'd love to know how you made this- ever how you did it, it was a pretty interesting result. I hear tons and tons of reverb in it, maybe a bit overkill to have that much of it, but it sure as hell wouldn't sound better if you used less reverb. Cool stuff

itsameyayo responds:

Thanks! I'd be glad to tell yah sometime, just hit me up in my e-mail or on AIM, or MSN, whatever you've got :P

Great

The bass has a great slappy sound, though some major eqing could have made it sound deeper and fatter than it is- but I know that's hardly possible. Guitar is great (though the texture of it doesn't sound absolutely perfect- but that's nitpicking). Piano has a lot of variation, which is lovely and basically what keeps the song going in for example most of the second minute. Along with the drums of course- so- did ya program that, or play it real life? Ever how you did it, it was done greatly. One thing though- the constant stream of breaks and bridges, buildups and so; it makes the song sound generally quite empty- so some extra instrumentation between parts- I don't know, woodwinds, orchestrals, countermelodies to guitars or whatever- would make it more of my liking.

But it's still great as is, and you get my five.

jnry3 responds:

Thanks for the five! ^_^

Everything in this track is programmed, from the instruments (piano, guitar, bass, and drums) to the panning and EQ.

Hmm... methinks it's crowded the way it is, but orchestrals (I'm thinking strings) would be a nice addition. Gonna figure out how that will fit, though.

Again, thanks a lot for your review! ^_^

Cool

Ahh- 'tis a lovable little tune. The synth melodies aren't very noticable- like, you can't really hear the notes, just the sound of them. And that's pretty darn well done. The drums and fx and such are good too, though instead of using just one tom, maybe you should use a lower one for the second hit in each bar-blah 'bout that- cool metallic thing- unnoticable rhytm again. The fx goes on all the time, adding to the greatness.

It doesn't really move anywhere, which isn't neccesarily a bad thing- as there's like, a lot happening where it is through the song. Now I'm just brambling, so I should end this review- Great work!

:P

Gillenium responds:

Thanks again, SBB! I think why the synths are not particularly noticable is because they all fit together so well. It's like a soundtrack in a movie. The best soundtracks are the ones you don't notice. They just sound right. There's a ton of different melodies and sounds battling it out in this song, but you'd never know it, cause everything sounds just right. That's why I'm so proud of this one. I touched on the idea of battling melodies in Strange Petals, but it's fully realized here, I think. You can hear new things every time you listen to it! I'm glad you enjoyed it, because I honestly never know if the stuff I really respond to will respond to anyone else.

Sounds very anonymous

Very generic kind of trance you have there, especially that fat synth that goes through the whole track. Really, if you wanted it to sound less repetitive, you coulda removed it when that keys thing (if that's mimicking a piano, it's rather crappily doing so). Nice sine

Kick sounds alright, though it's just like, an über preset sounding one. Snare sounds like it's put on a phaser, but you somehow froze the setting or something. Cool shakers though.

Lots of room for improvments but it's pretty good nevertheless

Sp1r1T responds:

Thanks.
Yeah FL Keys ftw xD
The kick isn't actually a preset, I got it in a sample pack, It just sounds like that because of the EQing :D.
The shakers are actually hi-hats on delay, with some filtering because I don't have any shaker sounds xD

And uh, Thanks again :]
